Signs of Spring - NYC Edition
Winter this year has been going on forever in New York - I’m not quite convinced yet that it’s already over, so my winter jacket is still not stowed away.
The long coldness was hard on the flowers and trees, and Central Park is still mostly a grey and brown landscape. Here and there, you can find the first colorful blossoms which show that spring is around the corner.
Yet, for my picture I decided to take another subject that strikes the eye much more than a hidden flower.
The concentration of students on the steps of Columbia University’s Low Library is a very good indicator for the temperatures of the day. In winter they are covered with snow; or if not, it’s way too cold to sit there. In summer, you can sit on the steps if you want to be grilled.
But now, as Spring is coming, every single sun ray is gladly soaked in by numerous students craving some warmth.
Welcome Spring, we’re very glad that you’ve decided to finally come!
